Mannerisms

Rather than with words, Way often speaks with his body language. He exaggerates head tilts and tail wags. He greets others with a Hearth-like salute, and tends to eye his sword before offering his trust to others. He's a bit greedy.

History

A bodyguard and sailor by trade, Aethelweard or Way is a simple Felvarg; he lives, breathes, and fights for what he thinks is right. He's a frank and collected fellow as well, always getting straight to the point when he speaks. Those who encounter him will note that he's a quiet and odd fellow, but Way believes actions speak much louder than words. Way will make frequent stops throughout his journeys toward his jobs to assist those who need aid, often surveying areas for billboards. This kindheartedness goes two ways, however, as he's more after the coin than helping others.

Way is something of a hoarder, having a secret stash in an underwater cave off the shore of his hometown. From when he once collected seashells, all the way to the bits and pieces of gold and treasure he stashes away. Though it started out as an odd trait of his, he now collects things for a reason: to provide for his family should an adventure or job go awry. There's only one Felvarg who is aware of his stash - Bijou - and he'd only shown her its location as a pup. Way also tends to stash away swords and shields underneath the boards of Bijou's home, though that is more because of their pups wanting to learn the way of the sword, and thus ripping Bijou's house to shreds, more than it is because he likes hoarding.

A couple more of his hobbies: playing Heroes and Niddings with his pups, swimming, and diving. Way's loved water since he was a pup, and often ends up walking around with his luscious coat wet and matted. And while Heroes and Niddings is traditionally a board game, they play in more of a live RPG way, with Way often taking on the role of the evil King Neid for his children. More often than not, there are a lot of wooden swords involved.

Way has a large family with Bijou, his soulmate. While their relationship is more of an understanding partnership than a beautiful romance, they both will stop everything for their family. Both of them tend to adopt stray puppies to raise alongside their rough-and-tumble litters. Though not often home due to the amount of mouths he has to feed and fund for the future, he loves his family to the stars and back, and sets out to be the best role model he could possibly be.

Though Way usually takes on adventures and job slips, usually by stumbling across them through traveling or from others recognizing him, he works steadily for an adventurer's guild called Skala-Endi, tucked away beneath Bijou's tavern. Here he takes up work guarding and serving the upper tavern, breaking up fights in the under, helping Felvargs to reach Jörmungandr. Skala-Endi tends to employ anyone, so Way often has his work cut out for him.

Way fights in an odd manner, using his tail to rapidly unleash weak blows to his opponents, rather than the traditional way. He aims more towards overwhelming them rather than hitting them with all he's got. He enjoys fighting quite a bit and can be seen popping up in tourneys now and then. His sword is a bit of an oddity too, having been possessed by storm and water spirits. Its shape has changed into a more scimitar build ever since, and Way has yet to find out the manner and method to its powers, or how to release the spirits who hold onto it. Way has also gritted his teeth and learned a spell for nullification magic, though he carries so little magic in his bones that he had to scratch and kick to be able to learn it.

Way has his flaws too, one being that he either gives into those he trusts much too easily, or he chooses to stand on his boat stubbornly when it comes to matters. He's also not a thoughtful fellow outside of battle, where strategizing and daring Felvargs will claim the win; Way leaves common sense out the window for most of his interactions. In most scenarios, whether adventure or magic, he has no idea how to deal with magic, though learning how to nullify has helped with the aftermath of any curses or tumbles Way or his loved ones take. Finally, he carries a distressing sense of time, always late coming home, and always late to meetings.

Relationships

Bijou #5719

He often softly calls her his Blueberry Muffin whenever he's at her tavern. Due to the busy nature of Bijou's work, Way sometimes drags her out to come along with her on his adventures. Their relationship is rather complicated. They have a huge family together, with many rough and tumble children. Some are adopted and some are from flings, but no matter how different their chains of origins, they're always loved family.

Beau #6556

Way's mini-muffin, Beau is a sweet and caring pup, taking up healing salves rather than the common sword and shield that his siblings have. Way always makes sure to pack one or two salves or healing tomes in his care packages he sends Bijou when he's away on a long adventure for Beau. Way carries a lot of love and hope for Beau, knowing that the path of healing in this cruel, painful world will be a rough one for his kindhearted son.

Gunhildr #5661

Way's encountered this silver girl quite a bit in his quest to discover the meaning behind spirits possessing his sword. While not considering her a friend, he does think of her as an ally, and has nudged her towards Skala-Endi quite a few times. Way considers this sunflower-toting dame as a tough customer, and does not care to be in her way when she's off on a rage.

Arine #5617

Way crosses paths with Arine quite a bit and considers her a good friend. Though they began as mutual friends between Gunhildr, Way would slowly recognize the selflessness that Arine carries and eventually consider her a role model. While Way initially only traveled coldly for coins, he would watch and learn from Arine, gaining compassion and seeing his family in others.

Muse #4550

Muse and Way go quite a while back; while most of his friends usually were from his jobs, Muse stands out in that he only knows Way for their mutual fondness of swimming and fishing. They met out on Lake Heimta as teens, and have fished together somewhat regularly ever since. Way enjoys Muse's presence a lot and considers their time together something like a vacation. No fighting, no thoughts, only a good time!
