A daughter of Bjorn the Bear himself, Ophelia grew up quite privileged. While she wasn’t spoiled by any means, she was coddled and sheltered from the harsher realities of the world. As expected of a pup of the trinity, she was raised to be humble, polite, and kind in a tight knit community.
Because of her sheltered upbringing, even though she’s now an adult, Ophelia is extremely innocent and pretty naive to how the world works outside of the comfortable bubble she was raised in. After growing up on grand stories and awe-inspiring legends of not just her father’s adventures, but about the worlds of Ulfrheim, Ophelia was inspired to finally venture out on her own and experience life for herself- to see the things she’d only seen in books, visit all of the places she’d only ever heard of, and forge her own adventure to honor her father’s (and aunt and uncle’s) legacy.
Determined to prove herself (and fighting against ongoing imposter-syndrome) that she is more than just Bjorn’s daughter, Ophelia has set off on her own to explore the world. She’s upbeat, hopeful, and overall optimistic, always believing in the best of people and wanting to help.
Because of her naivety, Ophelia can be a bit clueless to the seriousness, severity, or danger of certain situations. It’s not that she’s fearless, she just lacks the appropriate context, always thinking that things will just work out and that “good will prevail”. This makes her seem blindly courageous, especially when it comes to defending people close to her or things that she’s passionate about, but can also make her look foolish and childish.
Having been raised in such a tight-knit group and growing up with, mostly, all of the same people into adulthood, Ophelia is somewhat socially inept. She’s not used to interacting with people she doesn’t know, so she tends to be overly familiar with strangers to the point of awkwardness. She can get quite rambly and often comes off as ditzy or scatterbrained due to her enthusiasm and lack of practical knowledge. She’s one of those that gets giggly when things get awkward or tense.
Her tendency towards overfamiliarity extends to personal space. Ophelia is extremely tactile, always wanting to see things closer and touch, and very physically affectionate. She’s just used to those close knit bonds and touch/physical touch is part and parcel to it. It is extremely common to see Ophelia leaning up against someone, draping herself over their shoulder, or just keeping her paw or tail on them in casual settings. She’s a cuddlebug to the max.
Ophelia still wants to be friends with everyone. She wants everyone to be happy, which leads to some people-pleasing tendencies. Her eagerness can come off as disingenuous or desperate, especially to those she just met, and she can seem clingy and childish. While she’s not wildly insecure, she is self-aware enough to recognize that she can be a lot sometimes and she dreads embarrassing the people that matter to her or disappointing them.
tl;dr: Ophelia is a gentle bean in awe of the world she’s traveling. She’s sweet, supportive, and thirsty for knowledge and experiences. She wants to live up to everyone’s expectations of her and hopes to make the world a happier place in the process.
