Pinecone was always known as 'the shadow' by the fels in the village of Bardr, he was one of many of the many notorious thieves in the area
Pinecones entire child hood was filled angry faces, constant beratements on how kindness never paid off, and fending for himself, It broke him; then forced him to build back up just to survive.
Beneath the hard, cool mask he shows - he was never made for this life, and when he saw his gang attack an innocent felvarg and then just leave - for the the first time, he might not have known who he WAS, he knew who he WASN'T. He ran off to the path of Valhalla to find that fel and hasn't shown his face in Bardr since. His past is shrouded to others; but now his future isn't.
History

Time line:

(2 to present day) Pinecone never knew the meaning of family, he never knew his parents, not even their names only his gang. He wasn't a bad felvarg, it's just that the gang was all he ever knew. As a pup he watched other young fels playing tag, hide and seek, marbles, things he had never known, his 'play time ' was sparring, and learning how to wear different emotional masks and play as different types of felvargs completely, the lost, the market place seller, the heart broke, all things he had to learn to master, just to survive. As time grew, he became the best pickpocket in the gang, only known now as 'The Shadow' both by the group as well as whatever local law enforcement was in town.

(20 to 50)

When he was 38 the gang decided that he was good enough that they could up his game - enough that they staged an attack on a fel whom was passing through town. Deciding that enough was enough, Pinecone left Bardr to find that fel - now on the run from both the alphas and his former gang

(51 to present day)

When Pinecone had found the fel he had been searching for he felt like there might be no hope for him to change, already they were fels who didn't believe it. What he didn't expect even more was for the fel - Moon to keep nudging him towards the best direction, to keep believing in him when he lost hope in himself
