A chill has fallen over the whole of Ulfrheim as the blossoms of spring and summer begin to retreat, the flocks of migratory birds signaling the change in their vast numbers as they fill the skies., fleeing south. The great and bountiful seasons are meeting their end, bowing gracefully to the hardened times that stand in a solemn guard until their return. But an anomaly catches the Guardian of Protection's notice, his pale lavender eyes stuck to the starry heavens as a comet of brilliant gold holds firm against the indigo of night.

A heavy sigh escaped sealed lips, twilight consumed by blackness so whole but for the subtle golden glow by the omen. Vex ruffled their midnight feathers, clinging to Kettil's shoulders as the Felvarg entered his meditation sanctum - a small but deep gulch carved in stone. Quartzite surrounded him at the bottom, stretching up with jagged, stubby fingers that caught and emanated the spiritual energy of the celestial. Normally they were subtle icy blues, whites, maybe a rare pinch of faded reds... but tonight they all shone in harmony - Golden.

Muscles rippled as he laid himself down, his raven companion nestled between his forelegs, their energy becoming one as he let his mind depart the mortal realm, aiming upwards, onwards, into the heavens. Brief images snapped in his open mind, behind his closed eyes, each so swift they dared him to comprehend them. A rift. Vulpine skulls. Small paws treading beside large. Screeches in the blackness, melding with howls. These and more flashed, like dragonflies across a pond's surface, there and then not.

Lavender eyes opened to find dawn stretching across the horizon. His breathing returned - had he been holding it the whole time? Glancing around, the duplicity of his feelings left him unknowing... and yet so certain. The Yggdravixen have returned... And with winter coming, now was not the time to step into a new era blindly.

This year's Festival of the Waxing Moon would be different... Kettil would step in as the Guardian of Protection claimed responsibility for the trying times, though his first edict would boom across the pack - Investigation. What can be learned from Ulfrheim's newest neighbors, relics of the past brought back yet again? The Horae must open their eyes, and walk knowingly into the future.
